Know About Chandragiri Hills & Cable Car

Introduction
Chandragiri Hills Ltd is a privately owned company founded on 15th December 2016.  This has got a recreational purpose directly contributing to the Tourism in Kathmandu. It is a one-day family getaway at the Chandragiri hills.

Time and Distance
Chandragiri Hills (cable Car Ticket counter Building) is 7 km from Kalanki, this means it would take 15-20 minutes in a private vehicle provided there are no road traffic jams.

Facts Highlights
The altitude of Chandragiri top is 2551 meters from sea level.
 Himalayan ranges that can be seen: Everest and Annapurna with a beautiful vista of Kathmandu valley.
Separate 3 hours of uphill trekking trail is available just beneath the cable car line.

Shuttle Services:
There is free shuttle service that goes to Chandragiri hills from the following Bhatbhateni centers.

• The free shuttle from Kalanki leaves at 7AM Balaju 8:30 am
• The free shuttle from Maharajgunj leaves at 9:15 am
• The free shuttle from Koteshwar leaves at10 am
• The free second shuttle from Kalanki leaves at11:15 am

If you cannot get in time to catch up these free shuttle services, go to Kalanki and get on a bus to Thankot and make sure you get down at Thankot Check post. There is a single lane RCC steep road to the left. Start to walk from there. You have to walk around 20-25 minutes to reach to the cable car ticketing counter.

The Single Return Shuttle
There is a provision of a single free shuttle that leaves from Chandragiri to Kalanki at 5:30 pm.


Opening and Closing Time of CHANDRAGIRI Cable car
Chandragiri Cable Car opens at 8 am and closes at 5 PM on weekdays, but on weekends and public holidays, it closes at 6PM.

Lunch break (weekdays): 12:30 to 1:30 pm, other days no lunch break (staff duty on rotation)

The distance of cable care 2.5 km Time taken to reach the top: 9-13 minutes

The Capacity of Cable Car
There are 38 gondolas, which when operated altogether can carry 1000 passengers per hour.
Each gondola can accommodate 6-8 persons at a time

Temple at Top:
There is Hindu Shrine at the top called Bhaleshwar Temple. They will charge an extra fifty rupees per person to go to the view tower and use the binoculars.

The cable car is manufactured by Doppelmayr technology.

Special Attraction:
During the winter season, if you are lucky enough you can experience the amazing snowfall in and around the hill.
